This Year's Model Updates:

The Chevy Malibu Maxx gets a few updates for 2006. Most interesting is a new performance-oriented SS trim level that features a 240-horsepower, V6 engine. Chevy has also juggled the trim levels: the base model is now called the LS, the former LS is now the LT, and last year's LT is now the LTZ. Other minor changes include freshened front-end styling, new wheel designs, flashier trim pieces for the instrument panel, a new four-spoke steering wheel and standard child security rear door locks on every trim level.

Pros:
  • Hatchback configuration makes for easy loading, spacious interior with adjustable rear seats, plenty of safety and convenience features, innovative remote-start feature, standard V6 power.
Cons:
  • Lackluster interior, subpar braking and steering, less cargo space than true wagons or SUVs.

I really do love this malibu ss and it drives so smooth and fast. I get a lot of compliments about this car. It has a lot of truck room and seating is perfect for me. this is a car to get for sure. This car is so much better then hatchbacks out there and thats a fact.

I was looking for a car for my 50 mile commute each day. I need something comfortable and economical. My Dad has a 92 Corsica with almost 200K miles and gets great mileage. I looked at Honda (owned 3), Toyota, and Nissan (currently my wifes car), and Hyundai econoboxes. Was astounded at the gas mileage from the V6. Very comfortable car. I have the maintenance done when required (the car tells me!) and that is it. Has great sound system and love the moon roofs in the back! I went from a Lincoln Town Car (another great car for the money and mpg to boot) to this and the ride is almost as plush. The ABS and Traction Control are wonderful. I love my Malibu Maxx & plan on driving 4ever!

  • This is my 2nd Maxx - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

I traded an 05 LS ex-rental car for my new LTZ. I was already impressed with the power this car puts out, and all the nifty little features that the interior has (sliding rear seats, etc.). My biggest gripes about the car are the electric steering calibration (could be stiffer at speed), and the CD radio. The radio itself sounds great, but this design has been out for 3 model years now, and as of yet there is no aftermarket support for it. Meaning if you car does not come with XM, you cannot add one directly to the stereo itself, must be FM modded. And no MP3 support either.

I just bought an 06 Maxx and love it so far. The only problems are the rear sun shades(1 broke the 1st day) and I seem to have a fluttering noise coming from the dash area. Otherwise, I love the power to economy ratio. Itll pass cars and gas stations.

  • Practical and Sporty - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

Ive had my SS Malibu Maxx for 4 months and put about 5000 miles on it. I really love the car. I wasnt considering the SS until I sat in one and realized how comfortable the seats are. I test drove it and was hooked. Im not really a performance car guy but Im becoming one. Car handles beautifully and the acceleration is awesome. The regular Maxx is pretty peppy but Id encourage prospective buyers to try out the SS. The tricked out family car is cool. (Even, my friend who is a BMW devotee is jealous!) I was attracted to the Maxx b/c of its room and styling. It feels like a much more expensive European car -- but will be much more reliable.

This vehicle has all the pizazz and good looks anybody could ask for. Performance wise this car is very quick and responsive the auto/manual shifting is smooth as silk. About the only thing I can say is a drawback is the turning radius, it is a long car, but that has its benefits too in the amenities dept. this vehicle exceeds all expectations. If you test drive one of these vehicles be prepared to be impressed, I was, so I bought one and I love it.

This car is one everyone should test drive. During the time Ive had this car weve made 2 long highway trips and the mileage averaged 28.5. Around town we average about 23-24. Im 63" tall and this car has plenty of room for me in the front or back. Great car if you have a couple kids. Im pleased with the performance and driveability of this car. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a roomy car.

I recommend the Maxx LTZ to anyone who loves functional space and long trip comfort. I average 24 mpg city and 30 on the Highway and have exceeded 34 mpg on some trips. A Large Size Pet Porter fits in the cargo area for hauling my 100 lb. labrador. A great amount of features for the money. As a performace oriented person, the LTZ is sufficient but I would love to try the SS on my next lease, as long as they add heated seats and auto dimming mirror options!

  • LTZ MAX - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

We went to the dealer with the intention of buying an Impala. The salesman suggested that we take a look at the Max. We found that with 2 young children that it would probably be a good car for us with the windows above the rear seats and the rear dvd system. The kids love it and so do we. We definitely would suggest at least getting an LTZ model. The bigger wheels and chrome accents really add to the looks. We like it more and more. We commute about sixty plus miles per day a combination of highway and city driving and have averaged 28mpg and on our trip highway was 34ish.

Fun to drive, fuel efficient car, good acceleration, comfortable to have four adults over 6 feet to travel long distances. Doors can be opened very wide (almost 90 degrees to the body of the car) allowing exceptional access to the car. The design of the car allows for considerable features for price of the car. The styling of this car is for those who want be a little different and have all the comforts storage and handeling. It is nice for us in cooler climates to have the block heater and remote starter.
